Nasce a Galati, in Romania nel 1930. Dopo una carriera da coreografo e danzatore, prima a Zurigo, dove compie gli studi presso la Zurcher Theatertanzschule, poi Parigi ed infine a Berna come primo ballerino allo Stadttheater, nel 1956 inzia un progressivo allontanament1
