Nasce a Morciano di Romagna nel 1926. A Rimini frequenta l’Istituto tecnico per geometri e in seguito, fino al 1957, lavora a Pesaro come consulente per la ricostruzione di edifici pubblici e studia arte e oreficeria. Nel 1954 si trasferisce a Milano, dove conosce L. F1
